Wood Floor Versus Carpet Floor On Maintenance

It has been said that where elegant flooring is concerned, you can classify two kinds of people, those who love wood floor and those who love carpet floor. And although the carpet guys will not accede to this, there are many ways the wood 1-ups them. First, wood offers warmth, elegance, and exude the aura of opulence more than carpet does. Carpets take away the life in the room which can only be heard when shoes go a-clacking on the wood. Besides, carpets are harder and more expensive to maintain compared to wood.

So if it is having a homey feeling you want, no doubt wood floor will work for you. But then, not because it is easier to maintain gives you the reason to be sloppy about it. Spills and scratches do happen as you walk on the floor every day or as your pet claws on the floor, or as you move furniture around. It is therefore important to maintain the floor.

Maintaining Your Wood Floor

The first thing to check is the quality of the finish on the wood floor. If your finish is sealed, then a simple sweep and mop will do the trick. Do not put too much wax and never use oil on the wood—be it hardwood or laminate—because it makes re-varnishing or sanding very challenging. Keep to the original quality the wood had when you had it installed from the very beginning.

Also, do purchase only from known brand names. You cannot sacrifice quality when it comes to your flooring. Trusted brands will also be easier to maintain. If you still do not how to do it, then you can contract the manufacturer to do the maintenance for you at first until you have learned to do it yourself.

Nothing comes close to the beauty and warmth of a wood floor in the living room, bedroom, kitchen, and even the path leading to the garden. Surely with this kind of floor, you can step into serenity.
