Laminated Wood
Nothing Comes Quite Close To The Beauty Of Laminated Wood
Wood gives a touch of elegance and durability to any interior. It also gives the feeling of warmth. For this reason, wood has been a central figure in residential projects where the desire is to achieve a balance between lasting durability and a homey feeling.
Because nature has its limits, cutting down hardwood for building homes has been a practice that needed regulation. In its stead came the creative and ingenuous creation that is known as laminated wood.
How Laminated Wood Is Manufactured
It is often hard to differentiate between a laminated wood and the real hardwood due to the compressing, heating, and curing process the laminates go through. Laminates are mostly made of four layers. The bottom layer is called the balancer, and functions to resist moisture and make the floor plank stable. Next to it is the core, which is made of high density fiberboard saturated in resin, which makes it very tough. These two layers determine the sturdiness of the wood.
A thin paper impressed with a pattern or design then becomes the next layer. This determines the look of the laminates, whether smooth, grainy, matte, or shine. And finally on top of the pattern, laminates have a protective melamine resin on them to make them scratch-resistant, and also to make cleaning easier. This layer makes the laminate resistant to easy wearing and tearing despite foot and furniture traffic.
Almost all laminates are manufactured this way. But of course, quality comes with experience. That is why brand names which have been a pioneer in the wood laminate industry offers unparalleled quality.
Quality is determined not just with the planks but also by the way the planks have been installed. In installation, one wrong move may steal the show. Some laminates come with easy tongue and groove installation, but others are more cumbersome to install. Whichever is the case, be sure to have a professional do the installation of your laminated wood floor for you.
The result will be breathtaking, you’ll see.
